Writer 2013 allows you to insert trademark, registered mark and copyright mark conveniently. To insert these marks, please take following steps.
Let's take registered mark as an example.
Step 1 Place cursor where you'd like to insert trade mark.
Step 2 Under 2013 style interface, go to Insert tab > Symbol > More Symbols.
Step 3 In the Symbol dialog box > Special Characters mark, select registered mark and press Insert.

Step 4 Select the inserted registered mark from the document, and go to Home tab > Superscript .
You can add registered mark to custom symbol list and specify a keyboard shortcut for it.
To add special symbols to custom list, follow these steps:
Step 1 In Symbol dialog (see Figure 1), select registered mark and press Insert to Custom Symbols.
Step 2 Go to Custom Symbols tab of the Symbol dialog (see Figure 1), and select registered mark from the custom symbols list.
Step 3 In Shortcut keys field, press shortcut combination from your keyboard and then click on Specify Shortcut keys. Then the shortcut keys are connected with registered mark symbol.

After the settings are changed, press Close.
Next time, you can simply press Ctrl+Alt+R to insert registered mark to document. You can use whatever shortcut keys as you like, as long as they do not conflict with existing Writer shortcuts. See Writer keyboard shortcuts list.
